Core Values Index Training
Aug 11, 2021You may have hundreds of personal values, but only a few of them make up your core values. Extensive research by Lyn Taylor at Taylor Protocols, shows that the following values are the ones that are most likely to have the greatest impact on your behavior. Some of these are core values while others are catalytic values, which work to energize our core values:
- Faith
- Power
- Truth
- Love
- Justice
- Knowledge
- Compassion
- Wisdom
Our values drive our behavior. Core values are innate and unchangeable from birth. Our behavior changes in response to life events, maturity, work, family, etc. However, our core values tend to stay the same over our entire lives. I've used several behavioral assessments over the past several years such as Myers-Briggs, DISC, and Birkman and have found them all to be helpful in better understanding myself and the people that I work with. However, our behavior is constantly changing as we react to life around us. Therefore a behavioral assessment is not necessarily the best tool for awareness and team building. You can take behavioral assessments several times over a period months or years and notice slight to significant changes in your profile report. In fact, these assessments usually give you two scores - one for your natural style (at home or play) and one for your usual style (at work or on a team).
The Core Values Index assessment developed by Taylor Protocols does not measure behavior and, therefore, has been proven to be more reliable than behavioral assessments. The CVI has been independently verified to have a 94% repeat-reliability score, higher than any other assessment. This means that if you take the CVI assessment today and then take it a year later, that you are very likely to receive the same results.
Learn more about how to use the CVI to become more self-aware, build stronger teams, better manage conflict and improve hiring success at our inaugural Lunch at Learn September 2nd at Marion Baptist Association Missionary Resource Center. Get details and register online at www.lunch.mba.
