Growing Your Leadership Farm

I want to tell you about someone who started a movement with a group of men who were rejected by the establishment, but grew an organization that became the fastest-growing, most-prolific, grass-roots movement in history. It has lasted over 2,000 years and encompasses the globe. The man’s name is Jesus and He is the only perfect leadership role model that ever lived. He developed an open-source system and made it available to all of His followers. Everything that you need to do what He did can be found in the Bible. Not only does He give us His knowledge, but His authority and His power as well to do even greater things than He did.

Long before Major League Baseball started looking for farm teams and corporate America talked about pipelines, Jesus modeled a form of leadership development that is the envy of the world. The process that Jesus pioneered bypassed the establishment by going directly to the raw talent that was being overlooked by the religious structure. Jesus dug in the dirt to plant his disciples. He did not pick them off of a nice, neat shelf. He got into the messiness of their lives and did more through demonstration than proclamation. Jesus lived with His future leaders, taught them, showed them and let them. After giving them opportunities to make mistakes, He debriefed them and prepared them for what would come after His departure.
